Manga Rave, Other Interests and Happy Halloween!

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 31, 2009, 3:32 PM
Facebook l Gallery l dA Portfolio l Watch Me l Note Me

I just finished reading the Genshiken manga and it was great. Go read it now! I don't think you'll regret it. Here's the link: [link]
I think the art improves a lot as time passes but that's to be expected.
Just a fair warning: it's a bit on the mature side... but the fanservice didn't bother me and I'm really picky in that respect. So if it's alright with me I think you won't have any problems.
Genshiken is a slice-of-life manga with a bit of romance and drama... and loads of humour. :D The Genshiken is a university club for the Study of Modern Visual Arts, but in reality this code means they are into manga and anime. However thing start to change when a new first year joins the club, which was a big swampy, still water for years (frogs and mosquitos included free of charge)
The series is basically about otaku and otaku lifestyle ([link] ) : cosplay otaku, porn video game otaku, otaku hating otaku, yaoi otaku, etc. You can fing the character that fits you the most (maybe you have to be a bit of an otaku too ^^; )
Anyway it's not a pointless manga, the end is a bit bittersweet but heart-warming.

Filed above under "Other Interests" I have to report that I saw the first Harry Potter movie in years that was actually pretty good.
It was the Goblet of Fire.
Up the that: I either fell asleep as with the Philosopher's Stone movie
or
thought "it was alright" in the case of the Chamber of Secrets
or
got confused by the re-writing of the storyline in the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The fourth and the fifth are good actually, even made me want to watch them again.
Well, I still can't get over the fact that Ralph Fiennes doesn't have a nose... but I'm working on it, sort of.
Favourite from the Goblet of Fire? Hmm... tough one, I think the added humour ("OMG, I killed Harry Potter!" ) and the cemetery scene, which is suitably creepy. :fear:
Fave from Order of the Poenix... the "death" of all the Educatinoal Decrees, the crash is really magnificent. :giggle:

I think that's all. (Ah, I'm tired.) Happy Halloween! :pumpkin:
Although, I don't celebrate it. I prefer the Hungarian custom of visiting the graves of my grand-parents.

Integra: And what did you do?
A: I killed him quickly.
I: I'm sure the art community thanked you.
A: I like to consider myself a scathing critic. Non of my subjects survive my reviews.
